Brands We Commonly See
Around North Texas lakes we routinely work on MerCruiser and Volvo Penta sterndrives, along with inboard engines from builders such as Indmar and PCM that power many ski and wake boats. If you're not sure what you have, send us the engine model or a photo of the engine tag and we'll take it from there.
Cooling System Problems Are Urgent
An inboard or sterndrive that overheats can warp heads, damage gaskets and ruin an engine quickly. If your temperature gauge is climbing or the overheat alarm sounds, shut down and call 817-236-0048. Common culprits include a worn raw water impeller, a clogged sea strainer or intake, a failing thermostat, or corroded exhaust manifolds and risers.
Bellows and Gimbal Bearings
On sterndrives, the rubber bellows keep water out of the boat and the gimbal bearing area. Bellows dry out and crack with age and Texas sun. A failed bellows can let water into the bilge or ruin a gimbal bearing, so we recommend inspecting them every season and replacing them on a regular schedule.

Inboard & Sterndrive Repair FAQ
What is the difference between an inboard and a sterndrive?
An inboard has the engine inside the hull with a straight shaft through the bottom to the propeller. A sterndrive (I/O, or inboard/outboard) has the engine inside the hull connected to a drive unit mounted on the transom that steers and trims like an outboard.
How often should sterndrive bellows be replaced?
Many technicians recommend replacing bellows every few years, or sooner if they show cracks, stiffness or wear. Inspecting them each season is the best way to avoid a sinking or a damaged gimbal bearing.
Do you work on wake and ski boat engines?
Yes. We service inboard engines commonly found in ski and wake boats, including routine maintenance, cooling system work and diagnostics.
